SEO in Widnes and Runcorn, built around what you actually make

Plenty of Halton firms have real technical expertise and a website that hides it. That is an SEO problem before it is a marketing one.

The local picture

Buyers search for the capability, not the town

Widnes and Runcorn are dominated by manufacturing, process industry, engineering services and logistics, and almost all of it sells nationally.

Businesses like these rarely win work because somebody searched for a town. They win it because somebody searched for a process, a material, a standard or a capability and found a page that proved they could do it. The local term is worth holding. It is not where the revenue is.

The recurring problem is that the expertise sits inside the company and never reaches the website. The people who know the detail are busy doing the work, so the site ends up with four generic pages that could describe any competitor.

Where the work goes

What we usually find on an industrial site

Capabilities buried in a PDF

The detail a buyer needs sits in a downloadable brochure that search engines largely ignore and visitors rarely open. It belongs on pages, in text, where it can rank.

No page for the thing you are known for

If a process or accreditation is a genuine differentiator, it needs its own page. Buyers search for the capability, not for your company name, because they do not know your company name yet.

No evidence anywhere

Case studies, accreditations, sectors served and named clients where permission allows. Industrial buyers are risk averse and the site has to answer that before it will answer anything else.

Enquiries that vanish

Long B2B sales cycles make attribution hard and easy to give up on. Without it the channel that actually sourced the contract gets no credit and eventually gets cut.

The expertise that wins you contracts in a meeting would win you rankings too. It just has to exist somewhere a search engine can read it.

How we work

What the first six months look like

Audit

Technical, content and competitive. You get the findings whether or not you continue.

Priorities

What to fix first, ordered by commercial value rather than by what is easiest to report.

Foundations

Crawling, indexing, speed and structure. Content sits on top of this, not instead of it.

Measurement

Enquiries and calls attributed back to the terms that produced them, not just positions.

Common questions

What Halton businesses ask

Our market is tiny and technical. Is there enough search volume?

Often the volume is small and the value per enquiry is enormous, which is a much better trade than the reverse. Twenty searches a month for a specific capability, from buyers who need exactly that, is a far better position than a thousand searches from people who will never buy. We check that before recommending anything.

We do not really sell to Widnes or Runcorn. Does a local page help?

It helps with recruitment, local suppliers and the credibility of being a real business in a real place, and it costs very little. It should not be the strategy. The specification and capability pages are where we would spend the budget.

Who writes the content? We do not have time.

We do, but we need access to somebody who knows the work. Usually that is an hour on the phone with a technical person, recorded, which we turn into pages. Content written without that input reads like every competitor and ranks accordingly.

Will this work if our website is ten years old?

Sometimes. An older site often carries useful authority, and we would rather build on that than discard it. If the platform genuinely blocks the work we will say so and set out what a rebuild would need to protect.

Do you work with manufacturers specifically?

Yes, it is one of the sectors we know best. There is more on our marketing for manufacturers page, including how the buying cycle changes what is worth measuring.
