Marketing and web design for construction companies, built around winning work

Most construction websites are a gallery of finished projects. That proves you can build things. It does not answer the questions a main contractor asks before putting you on a tender list.

The problem

A portfolio is not the same as evidence

The people deciding whether to invite you to price a job are checking specific things. What sectors you have worked in, what value of contract you can carry, which accreditations you hold, whether you have done anything like this before, and whether you will still be solvent at practical completion.

Almost none of that is on a typical construction website. The photographs are there and the detail is not, so the enquiry either does not happen or arrives needing a conversation that could have been answered in advance.

Putting that detail online is also what makes the site rank. Buyers search by capability, sector and accreditation, not by company name, because they do not know your company name yet.

What we do

What actually brings work in

A website built around capability

A page for each thing you do and each sector you do it in, with contract values, accreditations and real project detail. That is what ranks and what gets you shortlisted. See how we build websites.

SEO on the terms buyers use

Sector and capability combinations, not “construction company”. The specific searches are where the intent is unambiguous and the competition is thinner. Our SEO work.

Accreditation and framework credibility

CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor and sector specific approvals are searched by name and checked before an invitation. If they are buried in a footer they are doing nothing.

The recruitment side

Construction has a labour problem as much as a sales problem. The same site can carry a careers section that actually ranks, which is frequently the more valuable half.

If a contractor cannot tell from your website what size of job you can carry, they will assume the answer is smaller than it is.

Being realistic

Not every construction business should be marketing

Plenty of contractors are fully booked on repeat business and word of mouth, and spending on marketing would buy them work they cannot resource. If that is you, the honest answer is to fix the website so it does not lose the enquiries you already get, and leave it there.

Marketing makes sense when you want to change the mix: bigger contracts, different sectors, less reliance on one or two clients, or a pipeline that does not empty when a framework ends. Those are real reasons. Wanting more enquiries in general usually is not.

We will tell you which of those you are in before quoting for anything.

How we work

What the first six months look like

Audit

Where you rank, what the site says about your capability, and how enquiries reach you now.

Priorities

Which sectors and capabilities are worth competing for, and which are already saturated.

Build the evidence

Capability and sector pages, accreditations and project detail written properly rather than listed.

Measure the enquiries

Call tracking, because in this sector almost everything worth having arrives by phone.

Common questions

What construction businesses ask

Our work comes from relationships, not Google. Why bother?

Often that is true, and it is a good position to be in. What Google does is decide whether you get considered by the people who do not already know you, and whether the ones who do can check you out without doubt creeping in. If your pipeline is healthy, this is a lower priority than the website simply being credible.

Should we put contract values and clients on the site?

Where you are permitted to, yes, and it is the single most useful thing you can add. Where a client will not allow naming, an anonymised description of sector, value band and scope still does most of the work. We will tell you where you are giving away commercially sensitive detail.

Do you do the recruitment side as well?

Yes, and for a lot of contractors it is the more pressing problem. It is the same work applied to a different audience: pages that rank for the roles and trades you need, and an application process that does not lose people.

Can you work with our existing website?

Usually. An older site often carries useful authority and we would rather build on it than discard it. If the platform genuinely blocks the work we will say so, and explain what a rebuild would need to preserve.

What does it cost?

It depends on the size of the site, how much of the content needs writing rather than migrating, and whether ongoing marketing follows the build. The fee is agreed in writing before work starts and sits separately from any advertising budget on the invoice.
